We’ll Work With National House Of Chiefs To Fast-Track Land Succession – Muntaka Mubarak

The Minister nominee for Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has pledged to work closely with the Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and the National House of Chiefs to fast-track the codification of land succession laws and resolve chieftaincy-related conflicts.

Speaking during his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday, January 24, he emphasized the importance of clearly documenting land succession to prevent disputes and eliminate uncertainties.
He explained, “If land succession is documented and everyone knows the process, it makes things much easier and removes the doubt.”
He stressed that formalizing the system would ensure fairness and reduce the possibility of individuals exploiting wealth or family connections to manipulate succession decisions.
“I will work very closely to assist the House of Chiefs in their work,” he said.
He expressed confidence that their combined efforts would be instrumental in resolving both land succession issues and chieftaincy disputes nationwide.
“I am sure that if we are able to achieve this, it will go a long way in helping us,” he added.
Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to the Asantehene for his ongoing contributions to peace and stability in the nation.
“I am grateful to the Asantehene for the role he is playing,” he remarked.
He added, “It is our hope that he will continue to provide his wise counsel and make his services available to assist the government in fostering peace throughout the country.”
Mubarak reiterated his commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure lasting peace and stability in chieftaincy matters across Ghana.
