The regional executive elections were held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, with the chairmanship contests attracting significant attention as various candidates battled for control of the party’s regional structures.

Reorganisation ahead of 2028

The regional elections form part of the NPP’s broader internal reorganisation aimed at revitalising the party’s structures following the 2024 general election defeat.

The newly elected regional chairmen are expected to play a key role in rebuilding the party’s grassroots structures, strengthening coordination between the regional and constituency levels, and mobilising party supporters ahead of the 2028 elections.

They will also be expected to work closely with other regional executives, constituency executives and the national leadership to address internal challenges, improve party cohesion and strengthen the NPP’s electoral machinery.

While most of the regional chairmanship results have been declared provisionally, the Western North Region remains pending as of the latest available results.

The outcome of the elections is expected to shape the NPP’s internal dynamics and preparations as the party begins a new phase of reorganisation and mobilisation towards the 2028 general elections.
