Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has received a late call-up to the Black Stars squad for Ghana’s upcoming international fixtures.
Thomas-Asante has been drafted into the team as one of two replacements following the withdrawal of Mohammed Kudus and the head injury sustained by Prince Adu Kwabena over the weekend.
The forward is expected to join the Black Stars for the upcoming fixtures against Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia and Morocco.
Thomas-Asante was initially left out of the 24-man squad announced by head coach Carlos Queiroz for the upcoming assignments but has now been handed a late invitation to join the team.
The Coventry City attacker was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, Canada and the United States, where the Black Stars were eliminated in the Round of 32.
He also made an impact during Ghana’s World Cup campaign, providing the assist for Caleb Yirenkyi’s only goal in the Black Stars’ victory over Panama in their opening match.
Ghana will begin the international window with a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire, before hosting Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium five days later.
The Black Stars will then round off the international break with a friendly against Morocco on October 4.
The late inclusion of Thomas-Asante provides another attacking option for the Black Stars as they prepare for the busy international schedule.
