The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Mfantseman, Hon. Eric Stanley Acquah (Mfantseman KK), has visited the scene of the collapsed Baifikrom Bridge on the Mankessim-Ajumako road to assess the situation and engage with commuters affected by the incident.
The bridge reportedly collapsed in the early hours of Wednesday, October 7, 2026, disrupting vehicular movement along the busy route and leaving several commuters and motorists stranded.

Following the incident, the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly has begun consultations with Espeedway Construction, the contractor associated with the road project, to determine an immediate response to the situation and explore possible alternative routes to ease the disruption.
The MCE, during his visit to the affected area, interacted with stranded commuters and assessed the extent of the damage to the bridge.
Authorities are expected to announce measures to manage traffic and provide temporary access once consultations with the relevant stakeholders are concluded.

Engineer Ibrahim Gorman of Espeedway Construction has appealed for calm, indicating that the company is working with the authorities to determine the appropriate immediate response.
He said further information would be communicated to the public after a decision has been reached on the way forward.
The collapse has raised concerns among commuters and residents who rely heavily on the Mankessim-Ajumako road for daily movement, with many calling for urgent measures to restore access and minimise disruption to commercial and passenger transport.
