Samuel Amihere, popularly known as Nikanika, has defeated incumbent Deputy Communications Officer Cosmos Nunyenge Yakubu in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mfantseman Constituency executive elections.
Amihere secured 1,081 votes against Yakubu’s 834 votes, winning by a margin of 247 votes to emerge as the new Deputy Communications Officer for the constituency.
The election was held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Mankessim Astro Turf, where delegates voted to elect executives who will oversee the party’s affairs in the constituency for the next four years.
Amihere’s victory marks a change in the constituency’s deputy communications leadership, following a contest in which he challenged the incumbent for the position.
As the newly elected Deputy Communications Officer, Amihere is expected to support the constituency’s communication machinery by disseminating party information, promoting its activities and strengthening engagement with party members and the wider public.
His role will also involve working with the constituency’s communications team and other executives to communicate the party’s programmes, policies and organisational activities effectively.
The outcome forms part of the NDC’s internal democratic process to elect leaders who will guide the party’s operations and strengthen its structures at the constituency level over the next four years.
