The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Mfantseman, Hon. Eric Stanley Acquah, has expressed optimism that the municipality could secure a position among the top five in the Central Regional Sanitation League Table, following improvements in sanitation through an electoral area-based sanitation initiative.

According to him, although the municipality has not completely addressed its sanitation challenges, the initiative has contributed significantly to improving environmental cleanliness across various communities.

Hon. Acquah made these remarks during the Second Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Ninth Assembly of the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly, held at Saltpond, the municipal capital, on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

He noted that the progress made so far demonstrates the importance of community-level participation and collective responsibility in addressing sanitation challenges.

The MCE, however, urged Assembly Members to intensify their involvement in sanitation activities within their respective electoral areas, stressing that sustained collaboration would be necessary to achieve lasting results.

He emphasised that sanitation management should not be left solely to the Municipal Assembly but should involve Assembly Members, traditional authorities, community leaders and residents.

Assembly to Introduce Automated Revenue Collection System

In a related development, Hon. Acquah announced plans by the Assembly to introduce a software-based automated revenue collection system aimed at improving revenue mobilisation and strengthening accountability.

He explained that the proposed system would enhance the monitoring of revenue collectors, ensure that the appropriate fees are collected and provide the Assembly with better oversight of its revenue mobilisation activities.

According to him, the implementation process has commenced, with the system expected to be rolled out soon.

He expressed confidence that the introduction of the technology would improve the Assembly’s revenue generation capacity, promote transparency and support the municipality’s development agenda.

Hon. Stanley Acquah further indicated that improved revenue mobilisation would provide the Assembly with additional resources to undertake development projects and improve service delivery across the municipality.

MCE Commends Assembly Members and Traditional Authorities

The MCE also commended Assembly Members, traditional authorities (Nananom) and other stakeholders for their continued cooperation, commitment and support towards the work of the Municipal Assembly.

He acknowledged that the collective efforts of these stakeholders remained crucial to the municipality’s development and encouraged them to sustain the existing spirit of collaboration.

Hon. Eric Stanley Acquah stressed that effective local governance and accelerated development could only be achieved through strong partnerships between the Assembly and the communities it serves.
