Why Increase Electricity Tariff And Water Tariff When ECG Containers Are Missing? – Gallant Cadres Quizzes

Following the statement issued by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) over an upward adjustment in electricity and water tariffs; the Gallant Cadres of National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed a greatest worry over a situation they described as punishment and demands an answer.

According to the statement, the new adjustments will be effective May 3, and the NDC Cadres has since called on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to “Stop the Waste in the System Now.”

“The Gallant Cadres of NDC do not think that the problem of ECG is low tariffs. It’s corruption and inefficiencies.”

“Government must retrieve the over 1354 ECG’s containers that are missing rather than increasing utility tariffs.
The inefficiencies in the system should be addressed rather than enburdening Ghanaian consumers.”

The PURC announced an upward adjustment in the average end-user tariff for electricity by 14.75%, and a 4.02% increase in water tariffs across the board for all categories of consumers.

Stop The Waste In The System Now

Government must retrieve the over 1354 ECG’s containers that are missing rather than increasing utility tariffs.
The inefficiencies in the system should be addressed rather than enburdening Ghanaian consumers.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced an upward adjustment in electricity and water tariffs. The new adjustments will take effect on May 3, 2025, according to a statement issued by the PURC. Electricity tariffs is increased by an average of 14.75%, while water tariffs rises by 4.02%.

The Gallant Cadres of NDC is asking that is it Ghanaians are under paying for the electricity that they consume?
We continue to impose more hardships on the few consumers who have been paying the utility bills in Ghana. It is sad. Cut down on waste and corruption.

This is another hold-up in the pockets of Ghanaians ECG’s customers and Ghanaians. ECG procuring cables with public money to improve its services and the cables being converted into aluminum bars for private use, then coming to ask customers to pay more is an hold-up in our pockets.

Frankly, if ECG was the private company of those managing it, they would properly handle it—The containers for instance would not have been diverted into private hands. But, NO, it is the State Money: no accountability and poor management. This must change for all state enterprises.

The Gallant Cadres of NDC do not think that the problem of ECG is low tariffs. It’s corruption and inefficiencies. Simple
