Businessman and National Democratic Congress (NDC) member, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, has officially filed his nomination to contest the position of National Vice Chairperson of the party ahead of its December 2026 National Delegates Congress.

His nomination was submitted by former Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the NDC, Dr Catherine Deynu, who said Mr Woyome’s decision to seek the position was driven by his commitment to strengthening the party’s organisational structures and building its capacity ahead of future electoral contests.

According to Dr Deynu, Mr Woyome intends to prioritise the empowerment of party members, particularly at the grassroots and constituency levels, as part of efforts to consolidate the NDC’s electoral fortunes and sustain its political dominance.

She argued that his contributions to the party over the years had equipped him with the experience and commitment needed to assume greater responsibility in strengthening its internal structures and improving organisational effectiveness.

“Many people can attest to these facts. He has done a lot for the party, and this is the time for him to be at the helm of affairs to ensure that our grassroots members are empowered and that those at the constituency level have their capacity built. He can also help build a strong party that will sustain electoral victories for years to come,” she told Accra-based Citi FM.

Dr Deynu further disclosed that Mr Woyome’s vision includes promoting sustainable job creation, which she believes would contribute to improving the livelihoods of party members while enhancing their capacity to support the party’s long-term objectives.

She expressed confidence that his leadership would help strengthen the NDC’s grassroots mobilisation, improve constituency-level organisation and position the party for sustained electoral success.

The NDC is scheduled to elect its national executives at its National Delegates Congress on Saturday, December 19, 2026, as part of its broader internal reorganisation and preparations towards the 2028 general elections.

The contest for the party’s national leadership positions is expected to attract considerable interest as aspirants seek to secure the support of delegates to shape the NDC’s next phase of leadership and organisation.
