Committee Chairman Appeals IGP to Strengthen Community Security

The Unit Committee Chairman of Wassa Ateiku in the Western Region, Mr. Emmanuel Quarshie, has made a passionate appeal to the government and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno to increase security presence in the community.
Mr. Quarshie expressed deep concern over the rising insecurity in the area, which he attributed to the inadequate number of police personnel and limited resources for security operations.
“Our community is not safe because the number of security officers here is woefully inadequate to protect lives and property,” he lamented. “We are calling on the IGP and the government to increase the number of police officers and provide them with the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively.”
He further noted that the ongoing chieftaincy disputes in Wassa Ateiku have worsened the security situation, creating tensions that could escalate if not properly managed. He believes a stronger security presence would help maintain law and order, and prevent any possible violence related to the disputes.
Committee Chairman appealed to the relevant authorities to act swiftly to ensure residents can go about their daily activities without fear for their safety.
Residents say they hope the government will heed the call and prioritise the safety and peace of the Wassa Ateiku community.
