Hawa Koomson Allegedly Assaulted as Chaos Erupts in Ablekuma North Re-Run

Tensions flared at the St. Peter’s Society Methodist Church at Odorkor in the Ablekuma North constituency, disrupting the rerun of the parliamentary election.

Reports indicate that chaos broke out when a group of unidentified macho men stormed the polling centre, allegedly assaulting former Awutu Senya East MP and former Fisheries Minister, Mavis Hawa Koomson.

Eyewitnesses said the men arrived in a coordinated manner, using a pickup truck and several motorbikes, creating panic among voters and electoral officials.

Despite a reinforced security presence deployed to maintain calm across the affected polling stations, the intervention was unsuccessful in preventing the disruption.

Information gathered suggests that Madam Koomson attempted to use pepper spray to disperse the crowd but was unsuccessful.

Although the exact cause of the assault remains unclear, a video obtained by Adomonline.com shows Madam Koomson on the ground as individuals rushed toward her. Police officers on the scene intervened to help her back to her feet.
