“I’m Not Going to Turn Down My Second Chance” – Jamie Foxx Opens Up About Stroke Recovery at 2025 BET Awards

American actor and entertainer Jamie Foxx delivered an emotional speech at the 2025 BET Awards, reflecting on his near-death experience and expressing deep gratitude for a second chance at life.
Speaking during the 25th edition of the awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Monday, Foxx opened up about the stroke he suffered in April 2023 while filming a Netflix project — a result of a brain bleed that nearly cost him his life.
Recalling the ordeal, the Oscar-winning actor said,
“When I saw that ‘In Memoriam’ segment, I thought, that could’ve been me. I don’t know why I went through what I did, but I know one thing — I’m not going to turn down my second chance. I have so much love to give.”
Visibly moved, Foxx pointed upward and continued,
“I told Him, I said, ‘Bro, just give me one more crack at this. Whatever reason You put this on me, I promise I’m going to do right.’”
His heartfelt remarks brought many in the audience to tears, including his daughters, Anelise Bishop and Corinne Foxx, who were seen crying as their father spoke.
Foxx’s powerful moment has since gone viral, drawing a wave of support and sympathy from fans and celebrities alike, many praising his resilience and emotional transparency.
