
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has interdicted a Police Inspector, Bright Appiah Dankwah of the Asuoyeboah Police Station, for his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor in Kumasi.
According to a press release issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command on Monday May 11, the suspect was arrested by the Regional Anti-Robbery Unit following intelligence-led operations.
A search conducted at his residence led to the retrieval of a Bruni Model 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and cash amounting to GHS 9,835.
The statement indicated that the officer has since been interdicted as investigations continue into the case.
The suspect was arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on Monday, May 11, 2026, and has been remanded into police custody. He is expected to reappear in court on May 29, 2026.
The Police Service says further investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged robbery.
