The Senahen of Enyan Denkyira Traditional Area, Osaadeɛyo Ayeboafo Ettuaful I, has donated 2,000 exercise books to pupils of Enyan Obontser D/A Basic School in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.
Presenting the donation, Osaadeɛyo Ettuaful emphasized the importance of education as a tool for community development. He urged parents to take a more active role in their children’s education by ensuring they are provided with the necessary basic learning materials. According to him, the future of the community depends largely on the investment made in educating its young people.
Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Assistant Headteacher, Mr. Obed Donkor, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the chief for his support. He noted that the donation would go a long way in easing the burden on both parents and pupils.
However, Mr. Donkor highlighted the school’s most pressing challenge—the lack of adequate classroom desks. He explained that many pupils are compelled to bring kitchen stools and plastic chairs from home, which makes learning uncomfortable and distracting. He therefore appealed to parents, traditional leaders, philanthropists, and benevolent organizations to support the school by providing more desks and essential teaching and learning materials.
Enyan Obontser D/A Basic School, which serves pupils from several surrounding communities, continues to struggle with inadequate infrastructure and limited educational resources. The donation by the Senahen is expected to provide some relief while drawing attention to the broader needs of the school.
