Mr Frederick Yaw Berchie, popularly known as Wofa Yaw, has been elected as the new Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Mfantseman Constituency.
The election formed part of the party’s re-election exercise held on Monday, September 21, 2026, following the cancellation of the previous constituency executive elections conducted on August 12, 2026, at the Centre Organisation for Sports (COS Park).
According to the certified results declared by the Returning Officer of the Electoral Commission, Mr Frederick Yaw Berchie secured 1,007 votes, defeating his main contender, who polled 507 votes.
A total of 1,516 votes were cast, out of which 1,514 were valid votes, while 2 ballots were rejected.
The declaration of the results was met with cheers from supporters and party delegates as Wofa Yaw was officially announced as the elected Constituency Chairman.
Speaking after the declaration, Mr Frederick Yaw Berchie expressed his appreciation to the Election Committee, Election Supervisors, the Electoral Commission, fellow aspirants, delegates and party faithful for their participation and support throughout the electoral process.
He called on all members of the party to put the election behind them and unite for the task ahead.
Mr Berchie stressed the need for unity, collaboration and collective effort among the constituency executives, party members and supporters to strengthen the party and work towards reclaiming the Mfantseman parliamentary seat for the NPP in the 2028 general elections.
He also urged party supporters to remain committed to the party’s agenda and work together towards securing victory for the NPP and its presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2028 elections.
