The Chief Executive Officer of the OQ Movement, Mr. Isaac Obo Quansah, has donated GH¢5,000 to the Odambea Festival Planning Committee to support the annual cultural celebration by the chiefs and people of Saltpond in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.

The financial contribution is expected to assist the committee in organising a successful and memorable festival while supporting initiatives aimed at preserving the cultural heritage and promoting community development within the Nkusukum Traditional Area.

Presenting the donation to traditional leaders and members of the festival planning committee, Mr Quansah underscored the importance of cultural celebrations in promoting unity, strengthening social bonds and creating opportunities for economic development.

He noted that festivals such as Odambea provide important platforms for communities to reconnect with their history, celebrate their identity and mobilise resources towards development.

Mr Quansah also reaffirmed the commitment of the OQ Movement to supporting initiatives that promote community development, youth empowerment and socio-economic advancement across Saltpond and its surrounding communities.

Receiving the donation, representatives of the Odambea Festival Planning Committee expressed gratitude to Mr Quansah and the OQ Movement for the gesture.

The committee acknowledged that financial contributions from individuals, corporate organisations, philanthropists and other stakeholders play an important role in ensuring the successful organisation of the annual celebration.

They therefore encouraged other well-meaning individuals, corporate institutions, citizens living abroad and philanthropists to support the festival, stressing that collective contributions would help preserve the area’s cultural heritage and enhance the celebration.

The Odambea Festival is an important annual cultural celebration of the chiefs and people of the Nkusukum Traditional Area, with Saltpond serving as its traditional centre.

The festival serves as a major cultural homecoming, bringing together traditional authorities, citizens, residents, dignitaries and visitors from across Ghana and beyond.

It provides an opportunity for the people to commemorate their historic migration, celebrate their cultural identity, promote traditional values and reflect on the development aspirations of their communities.

Beyond its cultural significance, the festival also creates opportunities for social interaction, tourism promotion, local business activities and the mobilisation of resources for community development.

The GH¢5,000 donation by Isaac Obo Quansah adds to the support from stakeholders towards ensuring a successful celebration and sustaining the cultural traditions of the Nkusukum Traditional Area.
