Mfantseman MP Applauds Hon. Gilbert Adjei and GWCL for Proactive Steps to Address Water Crisis

The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency, Hon. Ebenezer Prince Arhin, has commended the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, and the Management of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) for their timely and effective interventions to tackle the persistent and future water crisis in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.
Residents of Mfantseman have endured over five months of severe water shortage, which has affected hospitals, households, schools, and businesses across the municipality. The situation has sparked concerns over sanitation, health, and the general well-being of the people.
During a courtesy visit by Hon. Gilbert Adjei, his team, and officials of the Ghana Water Company to the Mankessim-Baifikrom Water Works and Treatment Centre on Monday, July 7, 2025, Hon. Prince Arhin expressed his appreciation for the renewed commitment to improving water supply in the area.
“I want to sincerely thank the Hon. Minister and the hardworking management of GWCL for listening to the cries of our people and taking decisive steps to address the situation,” the MP said. “Water is life, and I believe these measures will bring much-needed relief to our communities.”
Dr. Arhin also assured his constituents of drilling of new boreholes in underserved and hard-hit communities to provide further short-term relief and continuous efforts to lobby for more developmental projects that will uplift the living standards of the people of Mfantseman. He further urged residents to support the maintenance of the new systems once the upgrades are completed.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Hon. Gilbert Adjei, reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring sustainable water supply across the country, especially in communities that have suffered prolonged shortages.
The visit forms part of ongoing stakeholder engagements to inspect ongoing rehabilitation works and explore further investments to expand the capacity of the water treatment centre to meet growing demand.
