Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, is today, Thursday, November 13, 2025, presenting the 2026 Budget and Economic Policy Statement to Parliament — the second under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.
The presentation, being made on behalf of the President, is in fulfilment of Article 179 of the 1992 Constitution and Section 21 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), which mandate the government to outline its revenue and expenditure plans for the upcoming fiscal year.
Dr. Ato Forson is expected to highlight the progress and challenges of Ghana’s economy, emphasizing the policy measures and strategic initiatives implemented by the Mahama-led government to stimulate growth, ensure fiscal stability, and improve living standards.
Key areas anticipated in the presentation include updates on the IMF bailout programme, fiscal consolidation efforts, infrastructure development, job creation, and the government’s flagship 24-hour Economy Policy — aimed at driving productivity and economic transformation.
The 2026 Budget is also expected to shed light on social intervention programmes, domestic revenue mobilization strategies, and expenditure priorities for critical sectors such as education, health, and agriculture.
