The newly enstooled Benkumhen of the Kwamankese Traditional Council, Nana Adu Yankoh Nyamekye VIII, has pledged to unite citizens and mobilise local capacity to harness the area’s natural resources for sustainable development and job creation.
Speaking to the media shortly after his installation, Nana Nyamekye VIII emphasised that Kwamankese is endowed with significant natural resources that, if properly developed, could transform the local economy. He called on indigenes—especially those with financial means and expertise—to collaborate and invest in the area’s resource potential for the collective good.

According to him, relying solely on external investors may delay progress, as many prioritise profit margins before committing to projects. However, he believes that a community-driven approach, anchored on unity and shared responsibility, can accelerate development and ensure that benefits remain within the locality.
“We must come together as one people, pool our resources, and invest in what we have. This is the surest way to create jobs for our youth and improve livelihoods,” he noted.
Nana Nyamekye VIII stressed that empowering local participation in resource development would not only reduce unemployment but also strengthen economic resilience in Kwamankese and its surrounding communities.

Offering guidance to the newly installed chief, the Omanhen of the Abeadze Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, who also served as a former Vice President of the National House of Chiefs, urged him to uphold the dignity and traditions of chieftaincy. He reminded the Benkumhene that the role comes with strict customs and expectations, and that his conduct must reflect honour and integrity at all times.
He further pledged his full support to Nana Nyamekye VIII, expressing confidence in his ability to lead and foster development in the area.

On behalf of the Kwamankese Traditional Council, the Adontenhen, Nana Papagu Mensah, also advised the new chief to exercise caution in his leadership and remain accessible to all members of the community. He cautioned that challenges may arise from within, urging vigilance, wisdom, and inclusiveness in his approach to governance.
The installation of Nana Adu Yankoh Nyamekye VIII marks a new chapter for Kwamankese, with heightened expectations for unity, local investment, and sustainable development driven by the area’s natural resource wealth.
