More than 700 delegates and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam (AEE) Constituency have appealed to the Central Regional Executive Committee of the party to resist any attempt to disqualify Mr. Samuel Bonney Mensah, an aspiring Constituency Chairman, from the ongoing internal elections.
The group warned that any decision to disqualify Mr. Bonney Mensah, popularly known as “Pee-Kay,” could trigger widespread dissatisfaction among party faithful in the constituency, with some supporters threatening to defect to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Addressing a press conference at Ajumako Bisease on Monday, June 29, the leader of the group, Osofo Appiah, alleged that there were rumours of plans by some constituency executives, including Deputy Youth Organiser Lovelance Agyemang and other party officials from Ajumako, to influence the disqualification of Mr. Bonney Mensah.
According to him, the matter extends beyond the ambition of a single candidate and touches on the credibility and integrity of the NPP’s internal democratic processes.
“This issue is not about one individual. It is about protecting fairness, transparency and the democratic principles upon which our great party is built,” Mr. Appiah stated.
The group insisted that Mr. Bonney Mensah complied with all constitutional and procedural requirements outlined by the party and therefore sees no legitimate basis for any attempt to prevent him from contesting.
They further described him as a committed and loyal party member who has consistently demonstrated dedication to the NPP through personal sacrifices, financial contributions and active participation in constituency activities.
According to the delegates, during the 2024 general election campaign, Mr. Bonney Mensah actively joined the parliamentary candidate in extensive house-to-house campaigns across the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Constituency. They also claimed he financed the printing of campaign T-shirts, supported campaign logistics and provided financial assistance to polling station executives by paying dues and supporting party structures throughout the constituency.
The supporters maintained that these contributions reflect Mr. Bonney Mensah’s unwavering commitment to the growth and success of the NPP.

The group therefore called on the Central Regional leadership to ensure a transparent, fair and credible electoral process by allowing all qualified candidates to contest without interference.
They cautioned that any perceived attempt to unfairly disqualify Mr. Bonney Mensah could deepen divisions within the constituency and negatively affect party unity ahead of future elections.
Some delegates reiterated that they would feel betrayed if Mr. Bonney Mensah is disqualified without just cause, warning that such a decision could force many grassroots supporters to abandon the party in favour of the NDC.
The group concluded by urging the regional executives to uphold justice, fairness and the rule of law in the interest of party unity and democracy.
