The Minority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for the Efutu Constituency, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has cast his ballot at the Mankessim Astro Turf in the ongoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Central Regional executive elections.
A total of 495 delegates are expected to participate in the election at the Mankessim voting centre, where the exercise is being conducted under a peaceful atmosphere.
Speaking to the media after casting his ballot, Hon. Afenyo-Markin described the electoral process as a family affair, stressing the importance of unity and mutual respect among party members.
“It has been a peaceful atmosphere because it’s a family affair. There is no violence, there is mutual respect, and that is the beauty of it as people are harvesting their votes,” he said.
He commended delegates and supporters for maintaining peace and decorum throughout the voting process, urging party members to accept the outcome of the election in the spirit of unity.
The Minority Leader further expressed confidence that the outcome would reward candidates who have demonstrated commitment and hard work within the party.
According to him, “the most hardworking persons will carry the day,” underscoring the need for elected executives to work diligently to strengthen the NPP at the regional and constituency levels.
The Central Regional NPP elections form part of the party’s internal reorganisation and are expected to produce executives who will lead the party’s activities across the region ahead of future electoral engagements.
The voting process at Mankessim is being closely monitored by party officials, election officers and other stakeholders, with delegates expected to exercise their franchise and elect candidates of their choice.
Party members have meanwhile been urged to maintain the peaceful atmosphere and respect the outcome of the elections as the NPP seeks to strengthen its structures and unity in the Central Region.
