Atta Mills Family Appeals to Mahama: “Remember Us and Strengthen the Bond”

The family of the late former President Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills, through the Amoana Kwesibentsir Royal Family of Narkwa, Enyan Denkyira and Nanabin, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to remember the people of the area and strengthen the longstanding bond between them.

The family made the appeal while highlighting some of the pressing developmental challenges confronting residents, including poor road infrastructure, inadequate electricity coverage and unreliable mobile network connectivity in the Ekumfi District.

The elders called on President Mahama not to overlook their communities but to deepen the relationship between the government and the people by addressing their basic developmental needs.

Among those who made the appeal were Obaatan Rev. Kwesi Afful, Gyantuahen, and Obaatan Kobina Ebo, all of Enyan Denkyira; Ebusuapanyin Ago of Ekumfi Nanabin; and Ebusuapanyin Kofi Quaye of Narkwa.

According to the elders, Nanabin urgently needs a motorable road to improve transportation, facilitate economic activities and enhance access to essential services.

They also appealed for an expansion of electricity supply to communities that remain underserved, stressing that improved access to power is essential for local development and the growth of small businesses.

The family further called for improvements in mobile network connectivity, noting that reliable telecommunications services have become crucial for communication, education, business and access to digital services.

The elders urged President Mahama and the relevant government authorities to consider these concerns and take concrete steps to improve living conditions in the affected communities.

They said addressing the challenges would not only accelerate development in Nanabin, Narkwa and Enyan Denkyira but would also demonstrate the government’s commitment to communities that have maintained a strong connection with the late President Atta Mills and his legacy.

The family therefore appealed to President Mahama to “remember us and build the bond” by engaging with the Amoana Royal family, communities and supporting projects that would bring meaningful development to the area.
