ACCOUNTING TO THE PEOPLE: Mahama Is a Listening President and Deserves Applause – Central Regional Minister

Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, has praised President John Dramani Mahama, describing his administration as a listening government that deserves commendation for responding to the concerns and developmental needs of Ghanaians.

The Minister made the remarks during the “Accounting to the People” forum held at St. Peter and Paul Anglican Church in Saltpond, the capital of the Mfantseman Municipality, on Friday, September 18, 2026.

According to Hon. Eduamoah, the government’s approach to development demonstrates its commitment to engaging directly with citizens and addressing issues that affect communities across the country.

His comments followed a presentation by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Mfantseman, Hon. Eric Stanley Acquah who outlined various government interventions and development priorities being implemented in the municipality.

The presentation highlighted the government’s allocation of portions of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) towards key infrastructure projects. According to the presentation, 20 percent of the DACF allocation has been earmarked for Legacy Infrastructure, while 25 percent is allocated towards the construction of 24-Hour Economy Market Infrastructure.

The Central Regional Minister noted that such initiatives reflect the government’s broader development agenda and its efforts to ensure that resources are channelled into projects capable of improving the socio-economic conditions of citizens.

He further encouraged local authorities and stakeholders to work together to ensure that government interventions translate into tangible development outcomes for residents.

The “Accounting to the People” initiative provides an avenue for government representatives and local authorities to present updates on development projects, explain the use of public resources and engage citizens on the progress and challenges of ongoing programmes.

The forum brought together government officials, traditional leaders, assembly members, journalists, community representatives and residents to assess development in the Mfantseman Municipality and discuss priorities for the area.
