The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has given the party’s Central Regional Executive Committee until Monday, November 9, 2026, to resolve an ongoing disagreement over the venue for its upcoming regional conference.

The directive follows a disagreement among regional executives over the proposed conference location, prompting the FEC to instruct the Regional Executive Committee to convene and reach a collective decision.

In a directive dated Saturday, November 7, 2026, and addressed to the Central Regional Chairman, the FEC emphasised that the final position communicated to the national leadership must reflect either a consensus among regional executives or the decision of the majority of committee members.

The committee cautioned against allowing individual officers or factions within the regional executive structure to impose their preferred venue without the collective agreement of the committee.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the position communicated to FEC must reflect either the collective agreement of the Regional Executive Committee or the decision of the majority of its members, and must not be based on the unilateral position of individual officers or any faction within the Committee,” the directive stated.

The FEC further urged all members of the Regional Executive Committee to put aside their differences, engage in constructive deliberations and work towards a common position in the broader interest of the party.

“Accordingly, all factions and members of the Regional Executive Committee are urged to put aside their differences, engage in constructive deliberations and reach a common position in the interest of the Party,” it added.

The regional executives have been directed to formally communicate their agreed venue to the FEC by 12:00 noon on Monday, November 9.

However, the national committee has warned that failure to reach and communicate a collective decision within the stipulated timeframe will leave it with no option but to independently determine the conference venue.

“The Region is further advised that failure to reach and communicate a collective decision within the stipulated timeframe will leave FEC with no option but to make a determination on the venue and formally communicate its decision to the Region,” the directive stated.

The latest intervention by the FEC is aimed at resolving the disagreement and ensuring that preparations for the Central Regional conference proceed without further complications.
