MTN Ghana has unveiled its long-term sustainability strategic framework as part of activities marking its 30th anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to expanding digital connectivity, promoting financial inclusion, protecting the environment, and driving Ghana’s socio-economic development.
The strategy was presented during a media and stakeholder engagement held on Wednesday, July 15, at the Western Serene Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi. The event brought together journalists in Western and Central Regions, industry stakeholders, partners, and MTN executives to reflect on the company’s three decades of operations and outline its vision for the future.

The anniversary celebration was held under the theme, “30 Years of Progress, Powered by You,” while MTN’s broader corporate vision was captured in the message: “MTN Ghana @30: Connecting Ghana, Shaping the Digital Future.”
As part of its long-term sustainability agenda, MTN highlighted four strategic pillars that will guide its operations in the years ahead: Doing for Planet, Doing for People, Doing It Right, and Doing for Growth.
Doing for Planet
MTN reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability, stressing its ambition to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.
The company outlined several initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental footprint, including improving energy efficiency across its operations, enhancing water conservation and waste management practices, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting sustainable communities.
Officials noted that environmental responsibility remains central to MTN’s vision of building a greener and more resilient future.

Doing for People
MTN also reaffirmed its commitment to creating a more inclusive digital society.
The telecommunications giant said it is working to increase women’s representation within the organisation, expand access to affordable communication services, deepen financial inclusion through digital solutions, and invest in ICT and digital education to equip young people with future-ready skills.
The company reiterated its belief that “Everybody deserves the benefits of a modern connected life,” in line with its Ambition 2025 vision of “Leading digital solutions for Africa’s progress.”
Doing It Right
On governance, MTN pledged to continue operating responsibly by strengthening corporate governance, promoting ethical business practices, enhancing responsible procurement and supply chain management, and creating sustainable value for customers, shareholders, and partners.
The company said transparency, accountability, and responsible leadership remain critical to maintaining stakeholder confidence and delivering long-term value.
Doing for Growth
MTN further pledged to support inclusive economic growth across Ghana and the African continent through sustained investment in network infrastructure, digital innovation, and tax contributions that support national development.
The company noted that expanding telecommunications infrastructure and accelerating digital transformation remain key priorities as demand for high-speed connectivity continues to grow.
Earlier, MTN Ghana announced plans to deploy 800 new cell sites across the country in 2026 to improve network coverage, enhance service quality, and strengthen digital connectivity nationwide.
Speaking at the forum, Chief Internal Audit and Forensic Officer at MTN Ghana, Michael Gbewonyo, said the company’s remarkable journey over the past 30 years had been made possible by the unwavering trust and support of its customers and stakeholders.

“Our journey has never been one we undertook alone. Every mile we have covered has been powered by our customers, our partners, our communities, our employees, and all stakeholders who have supported and shaped our growth over the years,” he said.
He added that MTN remains committed to creating shared value for society while driving innovation and delivering world-class digital solutions that improve lives.

As part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, MTN Ghana also appealed to corporate organisations, philanthropic institutions, benevolent individuals, and the general public to support the Takoradi Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Project through donations to help improve critical healthcare delivery in the Western Region.
Celebrating three decades of operations, MTN Ghana says it remains focused on building a more connected, inclusive, sustainable, and digitally empowered Ghana while continuing to contribute meaningfully to the country’s economic growth and development.
