22-Year-Old Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of 7-Year-Old Boy at Mankessim

A 22-year-old man identified as Kweku has been arrested by the police at Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region for allegedly sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy.
The disturbing incident reportedly occurred on Sunday, November 2, 2025, around 2:00 p.m. According to the victim’s father, Mr. Francis Takyi, he had just returned home from church when he received a distressing call informing him that the suspect had allegedly abused his son(name withheld).
Upon reaching the scene, Mr. Takyi said he confronted the suspect, who allegedly admitted to committing the act. The suspect was immediately apprehended and handed over to the Jedu Divisional Police Command at Mankessim for investigation.
Meanwhile, the victim was initially taken to the Mercy Women’s Hospital (Roman Hospital) in Mankessim for medical examination. Medical staff there referred the boy to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for further assessment and treatment to ensure his safety and well-being.
The Jedu Police Divisional Command has confirmed that the suspect is in custody and that investigations are ongoing. Authorities have assured the public that justice will be served in accordance with the law.
Community members in Mankessim have expressed shock and concern over the incident, calling on parents and guardians to remain vigilant and protect children from all forms of abuse.
Police have also advised residents to report suspicious behaviour or suspected child abuse cases promptly to law enforcement agencies for swift action.
