Abora Tetsi Omankrado Destooled Over Misconduct

The Abora Traditional Council has officially destooled Moses Asamoah, known in chieftaincy circles as Nana Kwaa Amissah II, as the Omankrado of Abora Tetsi, effective Thursday, April 2, 2026.

The decision was taken by the Chiefs, Principal Elders, and Kingmakers of the Council and communicated through senior divisional leaders, including Yamfo Kwegyir XI (Abora Dontsenhen), Okofo Enyimakwa X (Abora Akyeampemhen), Nana Biney II (Abora Twafohen), Nana Kwesi Ankah VIII (Abora Tufuhen), Nana Ansaful VIII (Abora Edzikrohen), and Nana Afransa VII (Abora Manwerehen).
They acted on behalf of His Royal Majesty, Emintsinminim Otu XI, Omanhen of Abora and President of the Abora Traditional Council.

Grounds for Destoolment

The destoolment follows a series of allegations levelled against the now-former Omankrado, including gross disrespect toward the Traditional Council, persistent refusal to comply with its directives, and acts of verbal and physical abuse.

According to the Council, the situation escalated during proceedings at the Abrankor Palace in Abora Abakrampa, where the Omankrado is reported to have engaged in a physical altercation with members of the panel constituted to hear his case, in the presence of the Omanhen.

Legal Basis

The Council indicated that the decision was taken in accordance with Section 23 of the Chieftaincy Act, 2008 (Act 759), which addresses acts of disrespect toward a chief or traditional authority, as well as violations of customary law.

Directives to the Public

Following the ruling, the panel has issued a set of directives to residents and stakeholders within the Abora Traditional Area:

  • The public is to immediately cease recognising Moses Asamoah as Omankrado of Abora Tetsi.
  • All individuals and groups are to refrain from engaging him on matters concerning the Gyaase Division, Abora Tetsi, and the Abora Traditional Council.
  • All inscriptions, symbols, and insignia associated with the stool found on his properties are to be removed without delay.
  • Any stools currently in his possession must be returned and removed from the Abora State within 14 days.

Maintaining Order and Tradition

The Abora Traditional Council emphasised that the decision is intended to uphold discipline, preserve the dignity of traditional leadership, and protect the integrity of customary governance structures within the area.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and law-abiding as the Council takes steps to restore order and ensure continuity in traditional administration.
