Michael Osei Boateng, popularly known as “Pope,” has called for renewed unity and unwavering loyalty within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stressing that recent grassroots movements within the party are not being orchestrated by any single influential figure.
Speaking in an interview on Kasapa 102.5 FM and Agoo TV, Mr. Osei Boateng clarified that the growing base-level engagements and mobilisations should be viewed as organic expressions of party activism rather than factional agendas. He cautioned against attributing such movements to specific personalities, noting that doing so could create unnecessary divisions within the party.
He further emphasised that even where prominent individuals may be linked to these activities, their dedication and allegiance to the NPP should not be questioned. According to him, loyalty to the party must remain paramount, particularly as it navigates internal reorganisation and prepares for future political contests.
Mr. Osei Boateng also acknowledged that some participants in these grassroots movements may have previously associated with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). He suggested that such shifts could be influenced by dissatisfaction with the NDC’s governance, describing its performance as underwhelming.
Reinforcing his message, he urged party faithful and sympathisers across the country to remain focused, united, and committed to the NPP’s core vision and values. He stressed that internal cohesion will be critical to the party’s ability to regroup, strengthen its base, and position itself effectively ahead of upcoming elections.
Additionally, he called for strong and consistent support for the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as central to the party’s rebuilding efforts and future electoral success.
Mr. Osei Boateng’s remarks come at a time when internal conversations and grassroots engagements are intensifying within the NPP, highlighting the need for discipline, inclusivity, and a shared sense of purpose as the party charts its path forward.
