Mfantseman Assembly Distributes Street Light Bulbs to 36 Electoral Areas to Boost Community Security

The Mfantseman Municipal Assembly has distributed a new consignment of street light bulbs to Assembly Members across the municipality as part of efforts to improve night-time visibility, enhance public safety and support development in communities.

The presentation was made on Friday, September 4, 2026, by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Mfantseman, Hon. Eric Stanley Acquah, popularly known as Mfantseman KK, on behalf of the Municipal Assembly.

The presentation took place on Friday, September 4, 2026, immediately following the election of the new Presiding Member, Hon. Eshun Ibraham.

The distribution took place shortly after the election of Hon. Eshun Ibrahim as the new Presiding Member of the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly.

According to the MCE, the street light bulbs was distributed equitably across all 36 electoral areas in the municipality to ensure that communities benefit from the initiative.

Both elected Assembly Members and Government Appointees received allocations, reflecting what the MCE described as the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that development resources are distributed fairly across the municipality.

Hon. Acquah explained that Assembly Members serve as representatives of the Municipal Assembly at the grassroots level and are therefore well positioned to identify communities and locations where street lighting is most needed.

He urged the Assembly Members to ensure that the bulbs are installed at strategic locations to maximise their impact on visibility and community safety.

Hon. Eric Stanley Acquah disclosed that the latest consignment was secured through collaborative efforts involving key stakeholders.

He said the Assembly had paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, and his Deputy, Hon. Richard Gyan Mensah, during which the issue of street lighting needs in Mfantseman was discussed.

He also acknowledged support from the Central Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and the Member of Parliament for the area towards efforts to improve street lighting infrastructure in the municipality.

The MCE noted that the latest distribution builds on an earlier initiative in which the Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the MP, distributed street light bulbs to Assembly Members.

According to him, the provision of another batch demonstrates the Assembly’s continued commitment to maintaining and expanding street lighting infrastructure across Mfantseman.

Hon. Acquah said the installation of the street lights would contribute to improving security in communities by increasing visibility at night.

He explained that properly illuminated streets could help discourage certain opportunistic and area-related crimes, particularly in locations that are poorly lit.

“As Assembly Members, you represent the Municipal Assembly at the grassroots level. By ensuring these street lights reach all 36 electoral areas, we are tackling area-related crimes head-on and fulfilling our commitment to light up Mfantseman,” he said.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to work closely with residents and relevant authorities to identify priority locations for installation and ensure that the bulbs are put to effective use.

The MCE expressed appreciation to Assembly Members for their continued support and cooperation with the Municipal Assembly in its efforts to improve infrastructure and services across the municipality.

He stressed that sustainable development requires collaboration between the Assembly, elected representatives, government institutions, traditional authorities and residents.

The latest street lighting initiative is expected to improve visibility on selected roads and streets while contributing to safer movement and evening activities in beneficiary communities.

The Mfantseman Municipal Assembly is expected to continue working with its development partners and other stakeholders to address infrastructure and service delivery needs across the municipality.
