The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ekumfi, Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, together with the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ekumfi, Hon. Ishmael Nana Asamoah, has inspected ongoing reconstruction works on the dilapidated Essarkyir Bridge and adjoining road networks in the district.
The joint inspection formed part of efforts by the local leadership to monitor critical infrastructure projects, assess the progress of work and ensure that contractors adhere to the required standards and timelines.
During the site visit, the MP and DCE interacted with contractors, engineers and workers to assess the pace of construction and identify any challenges that could affect the timely completion of the projects.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded so far, noting that the reconstruction works were advancing steadily.
According to them, the completion of the Essarkyir bridge and associated road improvements will significantly enhance transportation and movement within the district, while improving access to communities and facilitating economic activities.
Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe stressed the importance of restoring the Essarkyir Bridge, describing it as a critical infrastructure facility for residents and motorists who rely on the route for their daily activities.
He noted that the deteriorated condition of the bridge had created challenges for road users, particularly residents, traders, farmers and other businesses whose activities depend on reliable transportation networks.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the Ekumfi District Assembly and relevant stakeholders to ensure that critical infrastructure projects in the constituency receive the necessary attention.
The MP further emphasized that the reconstruction of the bridge would improve road safety, strengthen connectivity between communities and support local commerce.
The Ekumfi DCE, Hon. Ishmael Nana Asamoah, also reaffirmed the District Assembly’s commitment to closely monitoring infrastructure projects within the district to ensure value for money and quality delivery.
He stressed the need for contractors to maintain the required standards throughout the construction process and complete the projects within the agreed timelines.
The DCE indicated that the Assembly would continue engaging contractors and technical teams to address challenges that may arise during implementation.
He said the objective was not only to complete the projects but also to ensure that the infrastructure delivered is durable and capable of serving residents for many years.
The MP and DCE subsequently appealed to residents of Essarkyir and surrounding communities to cooperate with the contractors and engineers as construction works continue.
They urged community members to support the project teams, exercise patience where necessary and protect construction materials and facilities to prevent delays or damage.
The joint inspection underscores the commitment of the Ekumfi leadership to improving road infrastructure and ensuring that ongoing development projects deliver tangible benefits to residents.
The authorities expressed optimism that upon completion, the Essarkyir Bridge reconstruction and connecting roads in the area will improve mobility, enhance road safety and contribute to the socio-economic development of the Ekumfi District.
