The Chief of Diaso in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region, Nana Agyaa Ameyaw III, has made a strong appeal to government to urgently intervene in addressing the community’s pressing infrastructure and social needs.
Speaking to the media at Diaso, the chief highlighted the lack of basic amenities in the district capital, stressing that the situation continues to hinder development and negatively impact the livelihoods of residents.
Top among his concerns is the poor state of roads within the town. Nana Agyaa Ameyaw III called for the construction and rehabilitation of major roads in Diaso to reflect its status as a district capital and to improve transportation, trade, and access to essential services.
He also raised concerns about inadequate access to electricity in parts of the community, urging authorities to expand and stabilise power supply to support both households and businesses.
On water supply, the chief appealed for the provision of large-capacity water storage systems, suggesting tanks with the capacity to store up to 10,000 litres.
According to him, such infrastructure would help ensure consistent water availability for residents of Diaso and surrounding communities, especially during periods of shortage.
Education infrastructure also featured prominently in his appeal. Nana Agyaa Ameyaw III revealed that Diaso Senior High School is facing a serious accommodation challenge, with the absence of adequate hostel facilities forcing many students to walk long distances daily to attend classes.
He therefore called on government to prioritise the completion of hostel projects for the school, noting that improved accommodation would enhance academic performance, reduce absenteeism, and make the school more attractive to prospective students.
The chief emphasised that addressing these challenges would significantly boost socio-economic development in Diaso and improve the overall quality of life for residents.
Residents and stakeholders in the Upper Denkyira West District continue to call for swift government action to bridge infrastructure gaps and accelerate development in the area.
