The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the release of funds to all Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTSs) across the country for the payment of 2026 WASSCE practical examinations.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, said, “funds have been released to all Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) across the country to cover the fees for the 2026 WASSCE practicals.”

The Service explained that the funding is intended to fully support all practical examinations scheduled for the year, including the provision of required materials and other essential resources.

“This payment ensures that all practical examinations scheduled for the 2026 WASSCE are fully supported, including the provision of the required materials and other essential resources,” the statement noted.

According to GES, the release of the funds is aimed at ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated examination process.

“With the release of the funds, GES seeks to facilitate a smooth and well-coordinated examination process that enables students to focus on their academic work, while relieving parents and guardians of any such financial burden,” it added.

GES further urged regional, district and school authorities to ensure that the funds are used strictly for their intended purpose.

“Regional, district and school authorities are, therefore, strongly urged to ensure the due application of the funds for their intended purpose to guarantee efficiency and accountability,” the statement emphasised.

The Service also assured that it will closely monitor the use of the funds.

“Management will continue to monitor the utilisation processes to ensure compliance and to maintain high standards in the administration of the examination,” it said.

GES expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their cooperation in advancing quality education and reaffirmed its commitment to student success.

“The Ghana Education Service appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders in advancing quality education and remains dedicated to creating an enabling environment for the success of all students,” the statement concluded.
