January 9 to Be Observed as Public Holiday Across Ghana

The Ministry of the Interior has announced that Friday, January 9, 2026, has been declared a public holiday nationwide.
In a statement issued by the Ministry, it explained that the declaration follows the fact that January 7, 2026, which marks Constitution Day, falls on a Wednesday.
As a result, His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, acting by Executive Instrument (E.I.), and in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2001 (Act 601), as amended, has designated Friday, January 9, 2026, as a public holiday.
The Ministry noted that the holiday is to be observed throughout the country, and urged the general public, institutions, and businesses to take note and comply accordingly.
