Sogakope Senior High School has secured qualification for the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Championship after delivering a commanding performance in the Volta Regional Qualifiers, outclassing Battor Senior High School and Mafi Kumase Senior High Technical School.
The Keta-based school showcased exceptional brilliance throughout the contest, amassing 74 points to seal an emphatic victory and book its place at Ghana’s most prestigious inter-school science and mathematics competition.
Sogakope SHS established its dominance from the opening round, confidently answering questions and capitalising on bonus opportunities to build an early lead. The school finished the first round with 28 points, while Battor SHS managed 15 points and Mafi Kumase SHTS recorded 11 points.
The contest was effectively decided during the speed race, where Sogakope SHS displayed remarkable speed, accuracy and confidence. Team members repeatedly buzzed in before the Quiz Mistress had finished reading the questions and provided correct answers, extending their score to 56 points by the end of the round. Battor SHS remained on 13 points, while Mafi Kumase SHTS stayed on 11 points.
Although the True or False round was more evenly contested, Sogakope SHS maintained its overwhelming advantage heading into the final riddles segment.
In the riddles round, Sogakope SHS answered two correctly to cement its victory, while Battor SHS and Mafi Kumase SHTS each solved one riddle.
