Journalist Surprises Young Player with Sports Kits

A broadcast journalist with Mankessim-based Obrumankoma FM, Mr. Emmanuel Nana Essandoh, popularly known in the media fraternity as Nanka, has warmed the hearts of many by surprising a promising young footballer with a brand-new set of sports kits.

The heartwarming gesture occurred during a Zone 2 Inter-District Football Match at the Mankessim Astro Turf. Among the many players who showcased their talent on the day, one boy stood out — a 12-year-old student of Nyanfeku Ekroful Methodist Basic School. Wearing jersey number 13, the youngster dazzled spectators with his exceptional dribbling, speed, and fighting spirit on the field, drawing admiration from the crowd and catching the sharp eye of the journalist.

Inspired by the boy’s talent and determination, Nanka left the venue mid-match for the Mankessim township, where he purchased a brand-new pair of football boots, shin guards, and socks. He returned to the pitch shortly after and presented the items to the unsuspecting young footballer, who was both surprised and overjoyed.

Speaking after the presentation, Mr. Essandoh explained that his gesture was motivated by a desire to encourage the boy to take his sporting dreams seriously while also focusing on his education. He further appealed to opinion leaders, parents, and community stakeholders to create more opportunities and provide support for children who display talent and promise in sports.

The act drew loud applause and cheers from spectators, fellow players, and match officials, who praised the journalist for demonstrating leadership and a sense of community responsibility. Many described the moment as an inspiration, not only for the young footballer but also for other children who dream of excelling in sports.

Visibly excited, the young beneficiary expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the sports kits and pledged to continue working hard, both in his studies and on the football field, to make his family and community proud.
